Sean is an artist whose medium is Lego bricks, and as he once pointed out, he just can’t go to a location and whip out a canvas and pallette: he has to bring actual containers of Lego with him.
You can see some of that in the top photo: Sean has his “materials” sorted by color and shape (inside those cases in the background), making it easier for him to complete a build.  In this case, the project was a scale replica of the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens in Rockford, Illinois, completed between Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.
Thanks to the Rockford Park District for the opportunity! Sean is an artist whose medium is Lego bricks, and as he once pointed out, he just can’t go to a location and whip out a canvas and pallette: he has to bring actual containers of Lego with him.

This is the official Tumblog of Sean Kenney, a full-time “professional kid” who uses LEGO toys to build anything and everything you can imagine. For years, his artworkmodels, and children’s books have inspired kids to create great things themselves.

Sean will occasionally post some of his works in progress, as well as his favorite creations from years past.  His most current solo exhibition, “Nature Connects,” is at Reiman Gardens at Iowa State University through October 28, and will tour throughout the U.S. through 2015.  Click here for more information.

You can also find Sean on Facebook.  If you have questions or want to ask Sean about commissioning work, please use the Ask Box.

Thanks for following, and keep building!
